Submit a Mirror
Want to contribute to the Mimesis project? Have some extra space and bandwidth to spare on your website? Then submit a mirror for a Mimesis release to help keep the bandwidth costs down.
Each map is usually around 30MB or less and will only be downloaded from your mirror the number of times that you specify. Of course if you wish for your mirror to be infinitely available you may select that as well.
The process of submitting a mirror to the system is very simple and can be completed in a few easy steps!
Step One
The first thing you need to do is download a copy of the Mimesis Content Package (MCP) that you wish to mirror. Now just upload it to your web server and test that the URL to it actually works properly. Copy the URL to your clipboard because you will need it below. Once you have done this you are ready to move on to step two.
Note: Only http urls are supported. Please do not post links to FTP sites since Mimesis will choke on them. Also... the server you are hosting the maps on must support direct downloads of the file. If it requires the user to view some ads first then it will choke up as well. Thanks for paying attention enough to read this, most do not have the attention span.
A good mirror url would be: http://www.randomsite.com/mapName.mcp
Step Two
Next you will want to paste in your mirror URL in the field provided. Once you hit submit, the mirror will move onto our servers for verification. Once verified the mirror will be put into production.
